About Rainer

A photograph can carry a whole situation in one frame. A story carries what came before it and what happens next. I work in both. My stories are about the places under pressure, the species with no voice, and the people standing between them and the worst outcome.

My background is not the usual one for a photographer: social work, development cooperation in Ghana, training in marine monitoring and coral survey. Photographer's eye, social worker's heart, scientist's mind.
